Please read my prequel article from Aug. 2011, called “My Lasik Nightmare…” here: http://atomic-temporary-19605584.wpcomstaging.com/2011/08/30/my-nightmare-laser-correction-experience-with-nine-lasik-surgeries-with-dr-theodore-perl-by-brian-cimins/
Simply stated, “I have never seen clearer than I can today. Colors are more vivid, images are clearer, borders sharper, no glares exist, no double images, no headaches. I can see clearly now for the first time in 17 years. I feel like I’ve been seeing the world in VHS and just upgraded to Blu Ray eyes today.”
I had “the vision”, the dream, that one day I could write that, and it would be true. Thank you Dr. Hersh and Dr. Chang.
After 9 Lasik surgeries left my corneas scarred and thin, I had no options, or so I thought. Peter S. Hersh, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and the Founder/Director of the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute-Hersh Vision Group, a leading-edge Northern New Jersey LASIK and cornea research and surgical center. I was sent to Dr. Hersh after an extensive retinal exam showed no irregularities or explanation of darkening and unclear vision. The retinal specialist said, “If anyone can correct your vision, Dr. Hersh can.”
He gave me THREE options, (1) Hard Contact Lens, (2) Surgery Approved Inside of a Year, (3) Ocular Implant
– I chose #1 for these brand new custom fit contact lenses which recreate the surface of your cornea. They take some time getting used to, but I’m really excited at the clarity of my vision. In a sense, I’ve never truly seen my wife or my children until TODAY…WOW, that’s deep, but true visually speaking.
Dr. Hersh was the lead author of the clinical study that led to the FDA approval of the excimer laser for the correction of myopia in the United States. He has trained more than 1,000 eye surgeons in the use of the excimer laser to perform refractive surgery.
Dr. Hersh has been featured in various magazines. Due to his vast experience and excellent surgical skills, Dr. Hersh has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Teacher of the Year from the Harvard Medical School Ophthalmology Program, and both the Honor Award and the Senior Honor Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the only LASIK surgeon in New Jersey to be included in America’s Top Doctors, where he has been listed for more than 10 years in a row, and the only LASIK and corneal specialist to be named one of the top doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area by New Jersey Monthly, New Jersey Life and New York Magazine. Dr. Hersh has also been featured by many local and national media outlets, including The Today Show, America Tonight, Fox News, PBS, People Magazine, The New York Times, the Bergen Record and the Newark Star-Ledger. As a testament to his talent and reputation, Dr. Hersh has been named the team ophthalmologist for the New York Jets football team.
Dr. Hersh and his team at the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute use the latest, most advanced techniques to provide a range of vision correction procedures, including LASIK, PRK, LASEK and ASA. They also offer conductive keratoplasty for the correction of presbyopia (age-related loss of reading vision). For patients with keratoconus and other disorders of the cornea, Dr. Hersh provides a range of treatment options, from Intacs, to corneal collagen crosslinking, to corneal transplants.
