Parents – The Great Spanking Debate with Thoughts from Brian Cimins, Life Coach

The Great Spanking Debate

OUCH! Despite all the warnings and criticism, four out of five parents still spank their kids. Many experts believe the negative consequences outweigh any behavior benefits. Who’s right? This is a VERY important conversation to have as a couple before situations arise.
Many couples have HUGE differences of opinions on “spanking” and it can lead to tremendous problems and verbal altercations between parents. It’s important to look at it from all sides and the following PARENTS Magazine article really nailed it on the head.  Check it out at: http://www.parents.com/toddlers-preschoolers/discipline/spanking/spanking-discipline-debate

Parenting Tip: It’s HARD sometimes to keep your cool as a parent during chaotic moments, screaming, sibling rivalries, etc. – before responding or disciplining your child in any way, try to close your eyes, focus on your breathing and take Five DEEP breaths first…just give it a try and reply below with your feedback or results.
Remember the old saying, “It really takes a WHOLE village to help raise a child” – don’t be so hard on yourself, especially if you are all alone (father or mother).  Keep expanding your mind, focus on improving weaknesses and give new things a try, because there’s always “another way”.  If you want change, but keep repeating the “OLD WAYS”, change is impossible.  You MUST try new things, which might currently lie outside of your “comfort zone” if you want better results.  Remember to tell your kids you love them today and hug them as many times as you can.
