You're A Winner Before You Even Step on the Mat - Motivational Quote by Brian Cimins

You’re A Winner Before You Even Step on the Mat
– Brian Cimins

Pictured is Lloyd Irvin III, son of Master Lloyd Irvin (http://LloydIrvin.com) competing in his first submission tournament in grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Grapplers Quest 2011 World Championships in Asbury Park, New Jersey, December 9, 2011.

These children athletes have re-inspired me to work harder every day, because they are challenging themselves in ways on the mat that will forever positively affect their lives! I’m honored and proud to be apart of their lives, even in just the smallest of ways.

Your Strategy Coach,
Brian J. Cimins

Grappling Autism Launches: In-House Academy Tournament Fundraising Program to Help Desperate Families in Need

My nephew, Jonathan Cimins was born on April 16, 2003 as a seemingly healthy, beautiful blue eyed baby boy. At 18 months old, soon after his booster vaccination, his speech rapidly declined, his behaviors started becoming repetitive, spinning for hours, jumping for hours, making strange noises and even seriously injuring himself without fear, we were lost. Sadly, he’s never been able to say, “Daddy, I love you,” but his father, Paul Cimins NEVER gave up Hope. UPDATE: On May 6, 2013, Jonathan said “Daddy” – check out: http://AutismRadio.org

Cimins’ mastery in the Culinary Arts as a graduate of Culinary Institute of America and consulatations with DAN Doctors and Nutritional Experts propelled him to create the world renonwn, “Autism Spectrum Diet”, voted “best tasting gluten free and cassein free recipes”. He sought out international Autism experts and doctors, herbalists, phychiatrists, alternative biomedical treatments and most importantly, family crisis support groups throughout the World. The family support radio show, Hope Saves The Day is free on iTunes here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/hope-saves-the-day/id368234896

There was very little information available, no health insurance support and no guidance or help for families who learned their child or children had Autism. There were no treatments or hope for many of these families. The Divorce rate amongst parents of Autistic Children is 75%. With one in 91 boys being diagnosed with Autism, now is more important than ever to help raise funds to directly support families. Other Autism organizations boast “awareness” campaigns, but lack in the true families that need their help the most.

Paul Cimins and the entire family is on a QUEST to help cure and treat Autism and help the families it can potentially devastate.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Grappling Autism was founded by Brian Cimins in 2007 to help raise funds for families with AutismRadio, a 5013c charitable organization you directly helps these families, most desperately in need of support, both emotionally and biomedically to help recover their child. Cimins is the President and Founder of Grapplers Quest currently donates $1 from every competitor worldwide directly to AutismRadio and with annual donations exceeding $10,000+ annually, still just helps ONE family per year, that’s how expensive Autism can be to treat properly.

Autism Families desperately need our support.
Instructors, Family and Friends come up to up to us every tournament and say, “How Can I help?” – here’s how:

Classic Interview: Rorion Gracie Responds to Marc Laimon by Brian Cimins – September 2004

Rorion Gracie Interview by Brian Cimins, “The Gracies Respond to Marc Laimon”

Brian Cimins: Mr. Rorion Gracie, in less than 3 weeks, your son will participate in what many are calling the Grappling Superfight of the Year. How does it make you and your family feel to participate at the premier submission grappling event in America, Grapplers Quest on November 6th in Las Vegas? Any comments about Grapplers Quest events in general?

Rorion Gracie: Grapplers Quest has earned its reputation as one of the best no gi competions around and has done a lot to promote the grappling arts.

Brian Cimins: Is it true that your father, Helio Gracie will be attending this event? Will you and Helio be available for photos and autographs after the match?

Rorion Gracie: Yes, my father, Helio is attending Grapplers Quest. We always try to accomodate such requests.

Brian Cimins: How long has your son, Ryron been training for this match and what are you doing differently to prepare for Marc Laimon?

Rorion Gracie: Ryron has been doing his regular tournament routine.

Brian Cimins: What does competing against one of the best grapplers in America mean for you, your son and his career?

Rorion Gracie: If he thinks he is one of the best, he should agree to fight with no poins and no time limit. As for the significance of this fight in Ryron’s career, it it just another match.

Brian Cimins: Please comment on the following statement made by Marc Laimon, “I stopped training there (at the Torrance Academy) after I saw the Pan-Ams in 1996. I saw jiu-jitsu I never saw before, but I was told it was too advanced for me, by Rorion Gracie. It was also too advanced for his students who had been training for years. I personally felt he did not know this advanced jiu-jitsu, and saying it was “too advanced” was a cop out. So I stopped training there, and went out to find my own path and seek out what jiu-jitsu really was, and is becoming.”

Rorion Gracie: I never said to anyone that any jiu-jitsu “was too advanced,” that is a joke. I have discouraged our students from competing in regular BJJ tournaments because of its ridiculous rules. I still think that any competitor who relies on scoring points and then stalling until the time expires does so because he has no confidence in his possibilities. I guess we will find out soon enough how much Marc has learned since he went on his own path…

Brian Cimins: Does it concern you that Marc Laimon knows your style of Gracie Jiu Jitsu?

Rorion Gracie: Can you imagine if he didn’t?

Brian Cimins: Please comment on the overall IGJJF rules of the match and the following statement by Marc Laimon, “I would like to know exactly what Ryron will wear. Training for Gi and no gi are 2 different sports. He already has special Gracie (IGJJF) rules, why not tell me what I am fighting against. Imagine if you show up to the world series, and the umpire says, “Today we will play using a softball”. It is the same game, but the dynamics change dramatically. It should be stated what your opponent will wear!

Rorion Gracie: Marc, regardless of Ryron’s outfit, expect the worst!

Brian Cimins: A 30 minute time limit? Will this help or hurt Ryron?

Rorion Gracie: I wish Marc, who predicted victory, would show his confidence by agreeing to no points and no time limit. Last man standing kind of a deal, I am sure the public wouldn’t mind.

Brian Cimins: What do you think of the slamming rule? Why allow it? Do you think it will assist in the growth of the future of jiu jitsu if people get hurt, like Cameron Earle did?

Rorion Gracie: I think it is an important rule! Aside from punching and kicking, people shoud train Jiu-Jitsu on a regular basis to prepare for real fighting. Cameron (Earle) is a good fighter who made a mistake. If he learned from it, the lesson was priceless.

Brian Cimins: What would you tell people who are on the fence whether or not to attend this tournament to witness this fight LIVE?

Rorion Gracie: They should come (to Las Vegas) and see a great match.

Brian Cimins: What is your prediction of the match?

Rorion Gracie: I expect Ryron to do well as always.

Brian Cimins: Any sponsors to thank?

Rorion Gracie: Varig Airlines, WorldSize, Premier Chiropractic

CHALLENGE SUPERFIGHT – Pablo Popovitch vs. Davi Ramos – Florida – Grapplers Quest hosted by Brian Cimins – AUG 20 in Coral Springs, FL

HOLY SUPERFIGHT!!! Pablo Popovitch called me the day after Davi Ramos submitted Joao Assis and Jeff Monson at the 20th Grapplers Quest West Championships back in July. Pablo wanted to grapple Davi Ramos, Andre Galvao, Bill Cooper or anyone else on the World Class level to challenge him – DAVI RAMOS accepted.

Davi Ramos is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Master Cesar Guimaraes (AKA “Casquinha”) from the Top Brother academy, though he also fights for the prestigious Atos team. Already being named as one of the top BJJ competitors in his native Brazil, Davi Ramos solidified his career at an international level after submitting 6 of his 7 opponents at the Grapplers Quest competition (Las Vegas edition) in 2011, forcing the tap on big names such as Jeff Monson and Joao Assis.

WHO WINS?

Life of a Promoter – Tough Decisions, Missed Life Events and The Strong Cimins Family that Believes in Me

One of the toughest things in my life is balancing my personal life with my event and time demanding professional life. I’m a huge fan of grappling and love to attend MMA events, but my whole family organizes events around my schedule already, so asking to skip out on other family events is really tough for me. I missed my daughter’s first birthday for UFC Fan Expo 2010, I’ve missed two of my wife’s birthdays and five of my brothers, even missed my son’s 2nd birthday party. Each time, the event was with a partner like the Ultimate Fighting Championship, so I couldn’t control scheduling.  Venues are booking in advance faster than ever and premium dates are few and far between. There are only four Saturdays in each month (five in a couple too), so I’m bound to clash with other “Life” events.

I’m balancing being a father of two amazing children, Logan (4) and Kaylee (2) and husband to an amazing woman who also works at nearly every event worldwide, my wife, Lucia Lee Cimins. If my wife cannot make the event, my cousin Rob Lehman or parents, Paul and Phyllis help hold down the fort.

Sometimes my extended family doesn’t seem to understand how demanding my life can be. I’m not like other people or family members, I don’t work 9-5 and I don’t have a boss. My job requires me to attend events on weekends to support my friends and the sport we all love. It requires 100+ hours of work per week, ten plus days per month of grinding travel – but it’s all worth it because I’m doing what I was meant to do. I’m not “missing my life”, I’m creating a long lasting career, business, brand and tv-ready sport that will forever be known as a pioneer in television, dvds, ppv and live events for the sport of grappling. I’ve achieved my dreams with HARD WORK. Anything is possible, but it takes hard work – and sometimes event tougher decisions.

This Saturday is my first cousin Alina’s Engagement Party and I have chosen to pray that they understand that I must go see the “Ultimate Absolute Grappling in New York on July 30″. My friend Rob Constance is organizing a professional 16-Man grappling tournament with a $10,000 cash prize and $1,000 per submission bonus.  Get more info here: http://ultimateabsolutenyc.com/

I love them dearly and I hope they know that, but my life is grappling and this weekend, I’m going to just be a FAN. I’m used to paying big bucks to get big name grapplers compete and $10,000 for first place is great and I can’t wait to see who turns out in the end. Uncle John, I promise not to miss the wedding and, to Alina and Adam, you know I love you guys. See everyone on Saturday!
